Valentine’s Day is coming up, and what says “I love you” better than a big ol’ board of your favorite classic candies and local treats? We went shopping to create our dream snacking board with some of the market’s most festive Valentine’s Day treats.
WHAT YOU NEED
A board – marble or wood would be our suggestion, but a big plate works just as well!
Bowls, cups, or vessels – some of your items may need to be contained (hello, M&Ms?!) so raid your cabinets or head to the store for some small jars or ceramic bowls. Cupcake liners work great, too.
Your favorite sweet or savory snacks – we went sweet here, but you could easily work in some chips, dips, or fruit and vegetables!
An hour in the kitchen – spend as little or as long as you’d like on your creation, but be prepared to snack along the way 😉
A Valentine to share it with (optional, no judgement here)

LET’S GET DOWN TO BUSINESS
So you’ve got your favorite snacks, your board, and some free time – let’s get started. Step one is to lay out all of your ingredients and think about how you want to lay it out. Taking some tips from our DIY charcuterie guide, you’ll want to find a focal point to build off of, like a trail of pink frosted cookies or a bowl centered in the middle.
Once you have those larger pieces placed, just start grouping things together – a bowl of M&Ms here, a pile of jelly hearts there – until you’ve filled up your whole board!
If you’re feeling up to it, try making some chocolate-dipped pretzels with festive sprinkles, pick up some chocolate-dipped strawberries at Woodward Corner Market (available February 12-14 only!) or add homemade cookies. Your Valentine will appreciate the extra effort to create something so unique.
Serve your board alongside a romantic movie on the couch or as a Sunday afternoon treat. Make sure to wrap up the leftovers for a midnight snack!
